In 1971 Jesuit theologian, Karl Rahner, wrote: “The devout Christian of the future will either be a ‘mystic,’ one who has ‘experienced’ something, or he/she will cease to be anything at all.” How might this come together for us today? Contemplation and Mystical life? Theologian, Daniel Horan wrote: “True mysticism is the bringing to awareness that which is already present, the free gift of God’s self to us that occasions our recognition of God’s constant proximity to all of creation.”

As Diarmuid O’Murchu, writes – “we are living an evolutionary faith and find ourselves in a time of rediscovering God in Jesus Christ, Prophet and Mystic; the embodied Word of God who is Source and Center of the great story.” A story where everything created is already One, without division, different but not separated from Source. Everyday Mystics are essential for the birthing of a new mysticism where interrelatedness, interconnectedness and entanglement are essential for life to lessen division and inequality.

2. Wednesday, November 18, 2026 1-4pm Birthing the Prophetic/Mystical path of the Sacred Feminine in today’s world

3. Tuesday, November 24, 2026 1-4pm Awakening to the Mystic/Prophet within: from “doing” to human “being” in an integrated world 

Facilitator: Sister Nancy Brousseau, OP, DMin, is a Dominican Sister of Grand Rapids, MI. Sr. Nancy has been a retreat director at Lial each summer since 2009. She served as the Director of the Dominican Center at Marywood in Grand Rapids for five years and was Director of Spirituality Programs there for six years.
